Art Out Loud Online: Summer Pierre

Art Out Loud Online is part of the SI At Your Service program. Illustrators will take over our instagram and provide live demos and studio tours! Viewers must have an instagram account and phone/tablet/desktop to watch. 

Summer Pierre is a cartoonist and writer living in the Hudson Valley, New York. She is the author of the graphic memoir, All The Sad Songs (nominated for a 2019 Eisner Award) and the autobiographical comic series, Paper Pencil Life.
Her comic review of The Letters of Sylvia Plath for NewYorker.com, "Sylvia Plath's Last Plan," was a finalist for the 2019 Slate Studio Prize. Her other books include The Artist in the Office: How to Creatively Survive and Thrive Seven Days a Week ("A virtual bible for artists and day jobs" -The Boston Globe) and Great Gals: Inspired Ideas for Living a Kick-Ass Life. Her writing and art have appeared in The New York Times, NewYorker.com, Pen America, and The Comics Journal among other places. 
Summer Pierre is currently exhibiting in Women in Comics: Looking forward and Back, on view until Saturday, October 24th.
