Saturday Stories: Illustrator-led Workshops for Children & Families : Featuring Fiona Robinson
February 16, 2019 |
11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Presented monthly, Saturday Stories invites guest illustrators to lead children and their adult companions in a read-aloud and hands-on workshop related to the wide range of materials and processes that illustrators use to create their picture books.
Fiona Robinson is an author and illustrator of books for children. Originally from the north of England she now lives in Brooklyn, New York. She has been praised by Publishers Weekly for her “humor tinged with heart,” and her work has been honored by the Royal Academy of Arts in London. Her favorite things include drawing, reading, drinking tea and telling her stories to children!
In this Saturday Stories’s workshop Fiona Robinson will read from her latest picture book, The Bluest of Blues, a biography of botanist and photographer Anna Atkins, who was the first person to ever publish a book of cyanotype photography. Fiona Robinson weaves together histories of women, science, and art in The Bluest of Blues, her gorgeous illustrated book that will inspire young readers to embark on their own journeys of discovery and creativity! Participants will create a monochromatic image, focusing on the varying depths of tone and texture, using drawing and collage techniques.
Great for ages 6 and up!
Tickets: SOLD OUT!
$25 covers admission and workshop for 1 adult + 1 child. Additional children are $10/each.
