We are both a publishing company and a distro representing nearly 100 self-publishing artists and small-presses. Our focus is on handmade comics, prints and apparel, often limited editions using customized printing techniques. Bizhan Khodabandeh moves freely across the professional boundaries as designer, illustrator, artist & activist. Khodabandeh is particularly fascinated by how art and design can be a catalyst for social change - which is reflected in many of his comics. Khodabandeh has received recognition for his work in multiple publications including a silver medal through the Society of Illustrators.
Blutch is a renowned French cartoonist, who won the Grand Prix of the Festival International de la Bande Dessinée d'Angouleme in 2009. His work has been published in French comics magazines such as FLUIDE GLACIAL and À SUIVRE, as well as in several books by publishers Cornelius, Dargaud, Dupuis. His series, PEPLUM, was recently published in English by New York Review Comics and Europe Comics is releasing in English and digital format some of his other books.
Brendan is a New York City based animator and illustrator, although he originally hails from the balmy shores of Boston, Massachusetts. By day he works as a motion graphics artist designing television graphics for ABC News, and by night he draws pictures that tell stories. Brendan holds an MFA in Design and Technology from Parsons the New School of Design.
Brooklyn Draw Jam
Brooklyn Draw Jam, repped here by cartoonist/illustrators Jess Worby, Gant Powell, Jason Das, Brian Elig and more, is a collaborative drawing free-for-all on first Mondays, 7-10 pm at Shoestring Studio (640 Classon Ave). Participants create jam comics and other drawing experiments. All are welcome to join. Charlie Boatner has written dialogue for Batman, Hawkeye, the occasional mermaid, Superman, and Scooby-Doo. He is happy to be writing for mermaids again in "Bureau of Beasties." He is also happy to present his first zine at MoCCA Fest 2017.
