Children’s book author and illustrator, Clare Pernice, will lead this new after school series focusing on the development of children’s stories and illustrations. During Words & Pictures, students will learn how Clare develops the main character in a book, and then invites students to create their own. As a group, they will look at several examples of award-winning children’s books and the Society’s current exhibitions and collections to explore composition, color, perspective, various illustration styles and materials, expressive vocabulary, and more....all leading up to the development of a draft of each student’s own original book pages.
No prior art instruction is required. Participants are welcome to bring favorite art supplies, but all materials will be provided.
Series will not repeat. Signing up for consecutive series will cover different information or projects each time.
